I disagree, however, with the way you said it. Western culture, particularly U.S. culture, has succumbed to the "Nike philosophy" of Just Do It. I definitely agree that people more often than not hold themselves back by not seeking empowerment and taking it when they find it. I don't agree with having people ask for forgiveness...rather, how about when someone sees an opportunity, they start the process IN PARELLEL WITH letting someone in authority know they are starting? That way, the thing gets addressed if there's no response from the decision-making authority or it gets canned by the authority BEFORE precious time and energy is wasted.
