“Stakeholder Management” is one of those terms that could easily be removed from our project management vocabulary.  The next time you hear it in conversation imagine that what was really said was “stakeholder manipulation”.  Would the sentence still make sense?
People are smart.  Manipulation seldom works in the long run, and especially in complicated group endeavors like most technology projects.

These People Support My Life – Who Are The Ones There For You?

Lately, and especially after the recent death of my friend John Harrell, I’ve been thinking about all the people who have enriched my life.
The most extraordinary experiences have come through their generosity and goodness.  The people who have been there for me are not all angels, but they certainly are messengers.
What does this have to do with Project Management?
Everything.
Your success as a project manager may be 10% a result of your knowledge, skill, talent and effort.  These things are important – but they are only a small part.  Fully 90% or more comes through the contributions of others.
